ROCK

Briar Rose Farm has been "blessed" with lots of rock. In the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, as the oldest mountains in the world crumble and change over time, gray granite fieldstone has been deposited in rock bars at many locations on the 160 acres here at the home farm and a nearby 24 acre property. Together these sites contain beautiful, rugged, and unique slabs and boulders. We have very little "building rock" or "laying rock". Our rock is classified as gneiss. Layer upon layer of it fills the ravines and hollows of our mountain.

Our rock is ideal for retaining walls, waterfalls, benches, or japanese gardens, while just one or two lend a sense of interest and permenence to a lawn or garden area. Many of our rocks have lichen and or moss on them creating a unique quality to the hardscaping that is so popular these days.

We no longer deliver locally but will load your vehicle; be it the trunk of a car, a pick up, or a tractor trailer. We will also work with your shipper or suggest a few shippers that we have worked with in the past.

We use a knuckleboom to load so as not to scrape or mar the rock.

Most of our rock is sold by the ton, a ton being about the size of a washing machine. Special "character" rocks are sold by the piece. Please inquire about pricing by contacting us.
